The Estate
Between Vines and Olive Trees
About
A unique estate in Provence
Located in the heart of the Alpilles moutains since 1489, Château d’Estoublon is a 300-hectare estate which lives to the rhythm of olive harvests and grape harvests.
From olive growing to viticulture, including a refined restaurant and a castle that can be privatized, each facet of Estoublon reflects our quest for excellence.
This precious heritage passed down from generation to generation, bears witness to the deep family history of Estoublon, united by a common passion for the culture of the land and its treasures.
15th century
At that time, the property known as “Le Grand Mas” belonged to the Seigneurie du Mont Paon. It was attached to the town of Les Baux-de-Provence.
In 1489, the de Grille family bought the estate, an important family of the Arles nobility.
16th century
In 1561, the château was completely destroyed by Protestant troops during the capture of Les Baux-de-Provence.
17th century
In 1642, reconstruction of the present Château began.
In 1674, the de Grille family is granted the title of Marquis d’Estoublon, and “le Grand Mas” becomes “Château d’Estoublon”.
18th century
In 1731, the first olive oil mill was built.
20th century
In 1922, the château was sold by the de Grille family to André Gay Lussac, who in turn sold it to the Lombrage family. After the frost of 1956, the family decided to replant the olive grove by variety, giving rise to the production of single-variety olive oils.
The Schneider family bought the château in 1998.
21st century
The estate is looking to new horizons with the implementation of an organic viticulture and olive-growing protocol.
Since 2020, the new owners’ ambition has been to make the hidden gem that is Château d’Estoublon shine, and they have created an emblematic cuvée, Roseblood d’Estoublon.
From olives to oil
Our know how
Historic activity of the estate, Estoublon olive oils have become one of the most renowned in the Vallée-des-Baux-de-Provence appellation. As with the wines, the different varieties of olives each play their own aromatic score. Bouteillan, Salonenque, Grossane, Béruguette and Picholine are all atypical and complementary, and are available in Estoublon as monovarietals as well as in blends.
